Rothschild family members visit the Jewish Museum Vienna

On May 19, 2022, descendants of the Viennese branch of the Rothschilds visited the exhibition The Vienna Rothschilds. A Thriller, which runs at the Dorotheergasse Museum until June 5. They were then accompanied to historical sites in Vienna that are connected to the family. The family members living abroad traveled from different countries especially for the exhibition of the Jewish Museum Vienna.
 
After a tour of the exhibition, the guests proceeded to the location of the former Rothschild Hospital on the Währinger Gurtel, and then on to the Hohe Warte, where only the gatehouse of the former Rothschild Gardens stands today. The family members also visited the First Vienna Football Club, the founding of which can be traced back to the Rothschild family and which to this day bears the colors of the Rothschild family coat of arms, blue and yellow. The next stop was the Neurological Rehabilitation Center Rosenhügel, the establishment of which goes back to Nathaniel Freiherr von Rothschild.
 
In the evening, a meeting took place in the family’s last remaining mansion, now the Brazilian embassy. This turned out to be a historic encounter, since the father of the current ambassador, Nelson Antonio Tabajara de Oliveira, had sealed the purchase of the mansion by the State of Brazil. The Rothschild family spoke of experiencing a particularly emotional moment. Following a visit to the exhibition The Vienna Rothschilds. A Thriller and a tour through Vienna in the footsteps of the Rothschilds, the reception at the former Rothschild Palais was the crowning finale of the day.
