Richard Schuberth: "Karl Kraus Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow"
Richard Schuberth, as a teenager, read Karl Kraus in the original issues of "Die Fackel," which his grandfather had subscribed to since 1913. In 2005/2006, his 30-part essay series in the Vienna street newspaper "Augustin" caused quite a stir. It was first published as a book by Turia + Kant (2008) and eight years later, supplemented with additional essays, by Klever Verlag under the title "Karl Kraus – 30 und drei Anstiftungen" (Karl Kraus – 30 and Three Incitements). Richard Schuberth will use some of these essays to create diagnoses of contemporary issues with the help of Kraus and present a selection of his favorite aphorisms by Kraus.
Richard Schuberth has thoroughly reflected on the multifaceted thinking of Karl Kraus, resulting in a book that does not merely reproduce the numerous opinions about Karl Kraus, but knowledgeably defends the author against both his admirers and critics. (Klaus Bittermann, taz)
